In the video that went viral, a young man and a girl are seen doing obscene acts in the premium coach of the train. In such a situation, questions were being raised on the safety of Rapid Rail and continuous action was being demanded.
Case registered under these sections
The first complaint about the matter was given by Dushyant Kumar, security head of DBRRTS (Maintenance Agency) at Muradnagar police station on 22 December. After this, on the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case against the unknown young man and woman under Section 296 (obscene act in a public place) and Section 77 (voyeurism) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) as well as Section 67 (broadcasting obscene material) of the IT Act.
Besides, the train operator who recorded the video and made it viral has also been charged. Actually, the video of this incident captured in the train’s CCTV camera was recorded from a mobile phone by an employee (train operator). Later he made it viral on social media.
Police identified the accused
Earlier, Assistant Police Commissioner (Mussoorie) Lipi Nagayach had said that necessary investigative action is going on in the matter. Further legal action will be taken after identifying the accused from the video. Investigation has revealed that the boy is a B.Tech student and the girl is a BCA student, both are from nearby colleges of Ghaziabad.
This incident is raising questions on the security and privacy system of Namo Bharat train. NCRTC has said that CCTV footage is monitored only from the control room, but strict action was taken when it was leaked.
Student tried to commit suicide
On the other hand, it has been claimed in media reports that the student seen in the obscene video of the rapid train was in a lot of tension and tried to commit suicide. In such a situation, after getting his treatment, the family has sent him to a relative’s house in another city.
