August 12: The glitzy world of Bollywood often hides the tumultuous lives of its stars. Actress Yogita Bali’s story is no exception. Born on August 13, 1952, in Mumbai, she captured the hearts of millions in the 1970s and 80s with her beauty and acting skills. However, it was her personal life that often made headlines, filled with love, marriage, divorce, and a lasting relationship.
Yogita hails from a film family; she is the niece of the renowned actress Geeta Bali. This connection to the film industry sparked her interest from a young age. When she entered the film scene, her charm quickly captivated audiences.
Her acting career began in 1971 with the film ‘Parwana.’ She went on to star in numerous films alongside big names like , Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand, Sanjeev Kumar, and Sunil Dutt.
Although she often took on supporting roles, Yogita carved out a unique identity for herself, appearing in over 60 films. Her performances in movies like ‘Naagin,’ ‘Mahboobha,’ ‘Chacha Bhatija,’ ‘Jaani Dushman,’ and ‘Rajtilak’ are particularly memorable. In 1976, Yogita married the famous singer and actor Kishore Kumar. This was Kishore’s third marriage and Yogita’s first. Their union was a hot topic in the media, as Kishore was one of the most beloved figures in Hindi cinema at the time.
Unfortunately, their marriage did not last long. Just two years later, in 1978, they divorced, marking the end of that chapter in Yogita’s life.
The very next year, in 1979, actor Mithun Chakraborty entered her life, and they tied the knot. Their relationship also attracted media attention, but the couple gradually chose to keep their lives away from the public eye. After their marriage, Yogita began to step back from acting, with ‘Aakhri Badla’ in 1989 being one of her last films.
Despite facing ups and downs in their married life, including rumors linking Mithun to actress Sridevi, Yogita focused on her family. Over time, they prioritized their relationship and family life.
Yogita and Mithun have four children: three sons, Mahakshay, Ushmey, and Namashi, and a daughter, Dishani. Mahakshay and Namashi have also ventured into the film industry.
