The matter pertains to the mortuary of Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College, where the body of 27-year-old Kranti Patel was kept for post-mortem. As soon as the body was taken out of the freezer on Saturday, family members noticed that parts of his eyes, ears and hands had been gnawed. The family members were stunned and an uproar started in the mortuary premises. It was alleged that there was gross negligence in the maintenance of dead bodies and that rats had damaged the dead bodies.

Serious allegation by family members: Money taken in the name of keeping the dead body safe

The family members say that the mortuary staff had taken Rs 400 from them to keep the body safe. It was claimed that he was assured that the body would be completely safe. But when the body was taken out before post-mortem, marks like deep cuts and bite marks were seen at many places. The family members termed it as outright disrespect and serious negligence on the part of the medical college.

According to the information, Kranti Patel, a resident of Gursarai police station area of ​​Jhansi, had consumed poisonous substance under suspicious circumstances. The family immediately took him to the medical college where he died during treatment. After this, the police sent the body to the mortuary for post-mortem.

Medical College’s defense: No rats, small insects or cockroaches claim

After the blame, Dr. Sachin Mahor, CMS of the Medical College, came forward and clarified that there is no possibility of rats entering the freezer. He said that the freezer remains completely sealed and there is no room for rats to reach inside it. According to him, it is possible that small insects or cockroaches may have damaged the body tissues, but he completely rejected the possibility of rats.
