Bengaluru: The case of a new bride, who had gone on honeymoon to Sri Lanka due to a family dispute, committed suicide after returning from the place, is now taking a new turn. Ganvi (26) of Ramamurthy Nagar had returned after leaving her honeymoon incomplete and had committed suicide by hanging herself. Now Ghanvi’s family members are protesting in front of her husband Suraj’s house. When the police reached Suraj’s house after the complaint, they had to struggle a lot to go inside. This is because so that no one can come inside the house, a dog has been tied to the gate after locking it. No one is coming out of the house, due to which the police are facing difficulty in going inside. For this reason, the family members are preparing to protest by keeping the dead body in front of the house.

Demonstration of more than 100 people

Earlier, family members and relatives had demonstrated near the hospital demanding the arrest of the accused. They demanded the arrest of husband Suraj, his brother Sanjay and mother Jayanti. The family members alleged that Suraj’s family is greedy for money and Suraj is impotent. Now more than 100 people are protesting in front of Suraj’s house. They were trying to protest by bringing the dead body in the ambulance, but the police did not allow them to bring the dead body from the main road to their home. Because of this he also had an argument with the police. The police stopped the ambulance driver from moving, following which the relatives demonstrated by raising slogans against the police.

‘He is not a man at all!’

Ganvi’s elder mother (Tai) Radha told, ‘I had got the marriage done thinking that it would be a good relationship. On his request, we also gave a wonderful reception. They harassed her a lot by demanding dowry and jewellery. It had been a month since the marriage, but the boy had not even touched our girl. He was postponing the honeymoon again and again. Even after going on honeymoon, nothing happened between them. He was harassing Ghanvi since the day of her marriage. He harassed her by demanding jewelery and money. To hide his problem, he harassed Ghanvi.

He had returned from Sri Lanka honeymoon only last Sunday. The boy says that he brought him home to meet his mother. If he had to live with his mother then why did he marry? When we questioned, they say ‘take your daughter to your home’. While bringing home, our daughter held Suraj’s feet and pleaded, ‘Don’t send me, I will stay with you only, the respect of my family members will be lost’. She said, ‘No matter how much pain it hurts, I will stay here’. Our daughter had to sit with the door of the room open. Ever since she had gone to their house, she was in a bad state due to crying. We want justice. We need justice for our daughter’s death. After bringing her home, she sent her mother out and committed suicide.

Complaint against three people

Ganvi’s uncle Karthik said, ‘A complaint has been lodged against three people. There is a complaint against Ghanvi’s husband Suraj, her mother-in-law and a man named Sanjay. A complaint has been filed on charges of dowry harassment. After marriage he worried a lot about the jewellery. He kept asking when will you give the Innova car. After marriage he had no interest in married life. He got married by hiding this thing. The police is investigating after taking the complaint. The phones of all three are switched off. We demand that action be taken against them.

Ghanvi and Suraj were married on October 29 last year. A month after the wedding, under pressure from her in-laws, Ghanvi’s family threw a reception party at the palace grounds. After this, the new couple was sent on a honeymoon to Sri Lanka for 10 days. But they left the honeymoon incomplete and came back.
