The place of appearance of Saint Kabir in Varanasi has been grandly constructed with pink stones after 500 years. Built at a cost of Rs 8 crore, this venue has an auditorium for 500 people and will be inaugurated by PM Modi. It can now become a major tourist destination.
The picture of the place of appearance of Saint Kabir at Lahartara in Varanasi has changed. The entire birthplace has been rejuvenated with the pink stones of Makrana. The grandeur of Kabir Kirti Temple has also increased. An auditorium has also been built. In which 500 people can sit together and perform kirtan. Kabir Math can become a big tourist destination of Kashi along with spirituality. Preparations are on to have it inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kabir’s place of appearance
Saint Kabir met weaver parents Neeru and Neema on a lotus flower on the day of Jyeshtha Purnima in Lahartara pond of Kashi. After this Kabir worked to give a direction to the society. Kabir died in Maghar, Ghazipur in 1518. There is a belief behind this that those who die in Kashi go to heaven. Maghar was chosen outside Kashi to break Kabir’s thinking.
The picture of Kabir Math changed
Local citizen Sumit Mishra said that after the rejuvenation of Kabir Math, the arrival of tourists and people of Kabir sect has increased continuously. He further said that due to the efforts of Mahant Govind Das ji, the picture here has changed, we have seen the days when there used to be a forest here and Mahant ji used to do meditation sitting in his hut. There was no one to see or ask. Mishra further told that earlier when people associated with Kabir sect used to come here to visit, they used to express their sorrow and pain that no development has taken place here in the name of Kabir’s name, but you people feel good to see the rejuvenation of this place.
After 500 years, development happened with Rs 8 crores
Govind Das Shastri, the head of Sant Kabir Math, said that tourists from India and abroad used to come to visit Kabir Math. There was no such environment here for the research students doing research on Kabir. People felt disappointed when they came here. To change its image, a proposal was sent to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and government departments, after which the government passed a proposal of Rs 8 crore. The picture here has changed after 500 years. The entire birthplace has been rejuvenated with the pink stones of Makrana.
500 people will be able to meditate in Sant Kabir Memorial
Govinddas further said that the construction work at the site of Kabir’s appearance has been completed. More than 500 people will be able to do meditation, yoga and meditation simultaneously at the memorial of Saint Kabir. The entrance gate, open theatre, Sant Kabir Ghat, Kabir memorial and pathway, hall have been renovated.
Only pond built in 17 acres
Govind Das told that the pond where lotus flowers had appeared to Saint Kabir. It also has to be beautified. This entire pond is in 17 acres. A letter has been written to the CM for this. A proposal has been made to build a museum. In which work will be done to preserve Kabir’s things. Kabir’s couplets, speeches and texts will remain. Which will work to attract tourists and devotees to come to Kashi.
After the inauguration, devotees will get entry to the visible place from in front of Lahartara pond. A room for security personnel has also been made at the entrance. The executive body UPPCL has done the development work under the supervision of the Tourism Department.
