A group of Democrat and Republican senators (Bipartisan) have agreed to provide funding to the government till January 30. If this proposal is passed in the Senate, work will resume in many government departments and thousands of employees will get relief.
How was the deal made to end the shutdown in America?
According to CNN report, Democratic senators like Angus King, Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, along with several Republican senators, played a major role in making this agreement. According to reports, the Senate Democratic Caucus has enough numbers to push this plan forward, which means there does not seem to be any major hurdle in passing it.
Which departments will get funding?
Under the deal, some important departments will get funding for a full year, including the Department of Agriculture, the US Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects. Along with this, the cost of operation of the US Congress will also be covered in this funding. At the same time, all other departments and agencies of the government will be provided temporary funding till January 30, so that their work continues without interruption.
