Tesla Model Y Gets A Bigger Battery And Longer Range In India – Without A Price Hike!

Tesla has introduced an exciting update for its electric SUV, the Model Y, in India. The top-spec Model Y Long Range RWD is now equipped with a bigger 84.2 kWh battery pack which gives it more driving range than before and the interesting part is that the price stays the same at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Range

The updated Model Y can now run up to 661 km on a single charge, according to the WLTP test cycle which is a global standard for measuring EV range and this is 39 km more than the previous model, which offered 622 km from a smaller 78.1 kWh battery. For long-distance travelers, this means fewer charging stops and more freedom to explore without worrying about running out of charge.
Even with the larger battery, Tesla hasn’t made any changes to performance as the Model Y will still go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds which make it both efficient and quick. This is actually a rare combination for an electric SUV.

Charging and Features

Tesla’s fast-charging technology still remains a highlight as under ideal conditions, the Model Y can regain up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes using a compatible Supercharger. This quick charge feature is especially efficient for road trips.

From the inside, this car continues to offer Tesla’s signature minimalist design with a large touchscreen, a panoramic glass roof and all the high-tech comforts. The Autopilot (Full Self-Driving) feature is still an optional add-on for around Rs 6 lakh.

Standard Model

The standard Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive remains unchanged and continues to be sold at Rs 58.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Future

Tesla’s decision to offer a bigger battery without increasing the price makes the Model Y an even stronger choice for EV buyers in India. With its extended range, quick charging, and clean design, the updated Model Y continues to show why Tesla is leading the electric revolution.
