New Delhi: Elon Musk’s Tesla will be making their debut in India today as it opens doors to its first showroom at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The Tesla showroom is going to be an experience centre where visitors will be viewing the brand’s special features and technology, along with sales of the car.
According to media reports, Tesla’s two popular models, the Model Y and Model 3, will be on display in the showroom. The Model Y is likely to be the first Tesla car to go on sale in the country.
The RWD (rear-wheel-drive) variant will be priced around Rs 59.89 lakh, while the Long Range RWD will be priced at around Rs 67.89 lakh, according to the prices on the Tesla website. The RWD version on-road will come to Rs 61.07 lakh, while the long-range will be priced at Rs 69.15 lakh on-road, which includes the 18 per cent GST.
For the launch of the brand, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis welcomed Tesla in India, noting that it was a statement that “Tesla had arrived”. He further said that Tesla wasn’t just a car brand but stood for both innovation and sustainability.

The Tesla Model Y rear-wheel drive comes with option of both 60 kWh and larger 75 kWh battery pack in India. The RWD variant has a single motor electric motor that produces 295 bhp. Ther 60 kWh batter also claims to have a range of 500 km on a single charge while the long-ranger is claimefd to have a range of 622 km.
