Tesla Launches Model Y L Six Seater EV in China

New Delhi: Tesla came up with its new 6-seater EV car. In China, Tesla launched their Model Y with many upgrades, including a long wheelbase variant and introduced the new EV as Model Y L. It came at the price of 3,39,000 Yuan, which is around Rs. 41.17 lakh.

While their five-seater Model Y was Tesla’s most popular model in the country, after the launch of their six-seater Model Y L, the EV faced competition from its sibling in the market.

Model Y L Exterior and Interior

The Model Y Ls comes with several redesigned features, which include a long wheelbase with 19-inch alloy wheels and a longer roofline, increased quarter glass and a quiet spoiler. The Model YYY badge on the boot shows that it has more seats and a longer wheelbase, and it also comes in a new Starlight Gold colour.

The Model Y L came with two seat configurations. The captain chairs in the second row are heated, ventilated, and have power folding arms support; however, the last row seats are heated only. This EV features a 16-inch touchscreen panel and has 4 more speakers than Model Y. It comes with an 18-speaker setup. The second and third rows have pillar-mounted air vents.

Model Y L battery, range and performance

The Model Y L is equipped with 193hp front and 269hp rear electric motors with AWD, All Wheel Drive, a drivetrain system where power is distributed to all four wheels of a vehicle. The energy provider for the EV is an 82kWh battery, and it takes 4.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100kph.

The Model Y L offers a 751km range on the CLTC, China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle, which is 1km more than the standard version, even though it is 96kg heavier at 2,088kg. Tesla says this was possible because of its aerodynamic shape and new wheels.
