Pilgrims’ bus and truck collided in Basti. 4 people died and 20 were injured in this accident. The injured are undergoing treatment and the police are investigating the matter.
Settlement: A truck collided with a bus carrying pilgrims late on Monday night at Hardiya intersection of Basti Sadar police station area. At least four people died and 20 others were injured in this accident. District Magistrate Krutika Jyotsna said that the accident happened late at night, in which four pilgrims died on the spot. Three of the injured have been sent to major medical centers for better treatment, while 17 others are undergoing treatment in local hospitals and are said to be out of danger.
The DM said, “The district administration is providing all possible help to the injured.” Pictures from the scene showed cranes being deployed to remove badly damaged vehicles and clear debris from the road. Police teams reached the spot immediately after the incident, rescued the injured and admitted them to nearby hospitals. To facilitate rescue and cleaning work, the area was cordoned off. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and investigation is underway to find out the cause of the collision.
