This happens because Maa Kali herself leaves her place and goes to the devotees to remove their sorrows. In this temple the mother is worshiped in the form of ‘Bhavtarini’. Mother had assumed this form to free the devotees from sorrows and troubles.
This temple of Maa Kali is very famous for its miracles. There is a statue of Maa Kali in the temple, in which she is standing with her feet on Lord Shiva. Mother has a sword and a lotus flower in her hands. It is said that this temple has changed the fate of West Bengal. According to the legend, when the British army attacked Bengal, King Krishna Chandra fought against them. Many villages of Bengal were burnt in this war.
Mother Kali had given darshan
King Krishna Chandra was on the verge of defeat while fighting. It is said that at that time he had performed penance for Mother Kali. After this, Mother Kali, being pleased, appeared before him and gave him a powerful sword, with which the king defeated the British army. When King Krishna Chandra saved Bengal, he became famous as a ‘Krishna-Kali devotee’.
