New Delhi: Bengaluru is experiencing unusual heat this summer season. At the very beginning of the season, temperatures have touched 35 degrees Celsius. For Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the maximum temperature will be around 37 degrees Celsius. The minimum is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius.
Partly cloudy sky to prevail in city, weather to remain humid: IMD
The IMD however said that despite the cloudy sky, the weather in Bengaluru is expected to remain hot and humid. This would mean that people would continue to feel uncomfortable due to the heat. The humidity levels in the city are expected to oscillate between 70 to 50 per cent on Friday.
The wind speed in Bengaluru on Friday is expected to be around 3.7 kilometres/hour. The weather department has also not issued any major weather warnings for the day.
On Tuesday, Bengaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius. The day became the hottest day of this year. However this record is expected to be broken on Friday, when it is predicted that temperatures in the city would touch 37 degrees Celsius. For the weekend the IMD predicted that the maximum temperature would be 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum would hover around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius. Clouds would continue to prevail.
Temperatures in other parts of Karnataka
Bengaluru however is not the only city in Karnataka which is experiencing hot and dry weather. The situation is similar in other parts of the state. The weather department has issued yellow and orange alerts for heatwaves in Kalyana for the next 2 days.
In Kalaburagi Awrad (B) village recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, Chincholi and Afzalpur at 44.03 degrees Celsius and Kalaburagi saw maximum temperatures reaching 42.1 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperatures in these places is expected to cross 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
The IMD has also issued yellow alerts for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Haveri, Dharwad and Belagavi. Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail in all these places in the coming days.
However, the weather department said that isolated places in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, and Kodagu might see rainfall. The rains are expected either in the evening or at night. Mysuru and Mandya are also likely to receive light rains, said the weather office.
