Temba Bavuma did not follow on
IND vs SA: After winning the Kolkata Test, Temba Bavuma’s team has also done wonders in Guwahati. South Africa bowled out India’s first innings for just 201 runs on the third day of the Guwahati Test. In this way South Africa got a lead of 288 runs. Immediately after defeating Team India, South Africa took a surprising decision. Despite leading by 288 runs, South Africa did not allow India to follow on. Well, what Temba Bavuma did before this decision went viral on social media. In fact, the South African captain decided not to give follow-on to Team India by leaving the field. As soon as Team India was all out, when the umpires asked Temba Bavuma about follow-on, he ran out of the field after taking two minutes.
Why did Temba Bavuma run away from the field?
The reason for Temba Bavuma’s sudden running away from the field was that he wanted to ask the team management about this. Temba Bavuma took two minutes from the umpires and ran straight to the dressing room and after consulting the team management, he decided to bat again. After this, Bavuma informed the umpires from outside the field that his team wanted a light roller on the pitch. Bavuma made this demand because he wants to allow the pitch to deteriorate further in the future because India has to play the last innings on this pitch. Let us tell you that South Africa is the first team which has not given follow-on after gaining such a lead against India on Indian soil.
Marco Yanson’s havoc
South Africa has come in a position to win the Guwahati Test because of the fast bowling of Marco Yanson. This left-handed player took 6 wickets for just 48 runs. Yanson broke the back of the Indian middle order by dismissing batsmen like Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy. Apart from Yanson, Harmer took 3 wickets and Maharaj took one wicket.
