Telangana gets enhanced allocations for PM KUSUM

New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G Kishan Reddy, on Tuesday took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the importance of the PM-KUSUM scheme for farmers and called out the Telangana government for its lack of implementation.

Sharing details about the Centre’s support to the state, he tweeted, “Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of PM-KUSUM has been for farmers to set up decentralised Grid Connected Solar Power Plants, Stand-alone Solar Agriculture Pumps and grid connected Solar pumps in their agricultural lands.”

He also added, “This move aims to provide energy and water security to farmers, enhance their income, and de-dieselize the farm sector, and reduce environmental pollution.”

Reddy expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy and Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, stating, “I am grateful to Hon’ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy and Food and Public distribution Shri Pralhad Joshi Ji for approving an additional capacity of 450 MW for decentralized Grid Connected Solar Power Plants and allocating 20,000 Solar Agriculture Pumps for irrigation for the state.”

He wrote, “Telangana has unlimited potential in Solar energy and this move will empower farmers to harness this to its fullest.”

Reddy noted, “I request Hon’ble CM of Telangana to ensure speedy implementation given that the scheme lapses in 2026 and Telangana Government has failed miserably so far as current installations under various components for Telangana stand at 0.”
