New Delhi, August 16: The South Delhi Superstars triumphed over the New Delhi Tigers by six wickets in the 27th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
With this victory, the South Delhi Superstars climbed to fifth place in the points table, having won three out of seven matches. In contrast, the New Delhi Tigers languish at seventh place, having lost six out of their seven games.
Batting first after losing the toss, the New Delhi Tigers posted a total of 217 runs, losing seven wickets in the process. Keshav Dalal Singh partnered with Dev Chaudhary to score 20 runs for the first wicket. Keshav was dismissed for 17 runs, followed by Dev Chaudhary, who scored a duck, leaving the team at 24 runs.
From there, Vaibhav Rawal and Atulya Pandey strengthened the innings with a partnership of 62 runs for the third wicket off 37 balls. Atulya scored 23 runs off 17 balls, hitting three boundaries, before captain Himmat Singh joined Vaibhav for a fourth-wicket partnership of 49 runs in just 27 balls.
Vaibhav played a vital innings, scoring 44 runs off 30 balls with seven boundaries. Lakshya Thareja and Manish Seharawat added 56 runs for the sixth wicket off 27 balls, bringing the team closer to a double century. Manish scored 42 runs off 20 balls, while Lakshya remained unbeaten on 30 runs. From the opposition, Divansh Rawat claimed the most wickets, taking two.
In response, the South Delhi Superstars secured the match in 19.4 overs. They lost two wickets by the time they reached a score of 50. Ayush Badoni then partnered with Pranav Pant to add 56 runs for the third wicket, helping the team surpass the century mark.
Ayush scored 35 runs before being dismissed. Pant then contributed 32 runs off 27 balls in a partnership of 36 runs with captain Tejaswi Dahiya, taking the score to 142. Dahiya, along with Pranshu Vijayran, formed an unbeaten partnership of 76 runs for the fifth wicket off just 28 balls, leading the team to victory. Dahiya finished with an impressive 60 runs off 29 balls, including four sixes and six fours, while Pranshu scored an unbeaten 26 runs off 13 balls. Lakshman from the opposing team also took two wickets.
