Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday appointed Lalu Yadav’s younger son Tejashwi Yadav as the working president the party. He was elevated to the post after the meeting after the national executive meeting in Patna.
Tejaswi Yadav elevated months after party’s defeat in Assembly polls
Notably, Tejaswi has been elevated to the post months after party’s severe defeat in the Assembly polls, where party performed below than its expectations. The Mahagathbandhan fought the election after projecting him as party’s chief minister
Sharing a post on X, the party said that the decision was taken by the party at its national executive meeting on Sunday, which was attended by Lalu Yadav, Tejaswi and other senior leaders of the RJD. “Dawn of a New Era! Tejaswi Yadav has been appointed as the National Executive President of Rashtriya Janata Dal,” the party wrote.
A former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejaswi Yadav is currently the leader of the opposition in the assembly. On Saturday, while speaking to party workers at the RJD office he had said that he was thinking of revamping the party structure.

Sister Rohini Acharya flags move
Recently, his elder sister Rohini Acharya had blamed Tejaswi Yadav and his close aides for the defeat in the Assembly polls. She also alleged being hurled abuses when she called for accountability within the party.
Taking to X after the meeting on Sunday, Rohini Acharya wrote, “”The pinnacle of politics – in a way, the grand finale of a man’s glorious innings, congratulations to the sycophants and the “Infiltrator Gang” on the coronation of the “prince turned puppet in their hands.”
Earlier, Tejaswi’s elder brother, Tej Pratap was expelled from the party. Since being expelled, he formed his own party, Janshakti Janta Dal, and contested the Assembly polls separately. The party has not made any impact so far. Recently, he had visited the Yadav family and invited them to a Makar Sankranti feast.
