Former Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir has predicted that India will not reach the T20 World Cup semi-finals. According to him, South Africa and West Indies are playing better and will advance from the Super-8. Aamir has called it his personal opinion.
Karachi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has made a big prediction. He says that the Indian team will not be able to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. Aamir said this during a discussion on a private channel. He said that the teams of South Africa and West Indies are playing better than India, hence he feels that Team India will be eliminated in the Super-8 round itself.
South Africa and West Indies will reach the semi-finals
Aamir predicts that South Africa and West Indies will reach the semi-finals from Group 1 of Super-8. He said that considering the performance of the Indian batting line-up, it will be difficult for Team India to defeat both these teams. Aamir clearly said, “It doesn’t matter to me whether India reaches the final or not. But I cannot come under anyone’s pressure and say that India will reach the final.”
South Africa and West Indies are playing better than India
He further said, “I am not saying that India is a bad team. But in the current conditions, South Africa and West Indies are playing better than India. This is my personal opinion.” Earlier, Aamir’s statement was much discussed, in which he had described India’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma as just a ‘slogger’. Interestingly, after this statement of Aamir, Abhishek Sharma was out for zero in two matches including the match against Pakistan.
On one hand there is criticism of Aamir, on the other hand Team India has reached Super-8 without losing a single match in the group stage. In the group stage, India defeated teams like Pakistan, USA, Namibia and Netherlands. Along with India, South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe are also in Super-8, who have reached here without losing any match. India’s first match in Super-8 is against South Africa tomorrow. After this, there will be a match against Zimbabwe on 26th and West Indies on 1st March.
