Suryakumar Yadav-Shubman Gill failed miserably (Photo-PTI)
IND vs SA: India performed very poorly in the second T20 match against South Africa. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill were at the forefront of this poor performance. It can be said that both these players are counted among the top batsmen of the world but when it comes to their performance, they are seen more in the dressing room than on the field. In the second T20 against South Africa, Shubman Gill was dismissed on the first ball and captain Suryakumar could score only 4 runs. This has not happened only in this match, this same trend has been going on in many previous matches.
Suryakumar’s bad condition
Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav is in bad condition for the last 20 matches. These players have not been able to score a single half-century in the last 20 matches. Only 227 runs have come from his bat. The batting average is just 13.35 and the strike rate is less than 120. Suryakumar Yadav has scored more than thirty runs only twice in the last 20 innings. He has been out at 0 thrice. In 10 out of 20 innings he could not score more than 5 runs.
Shubman Gill’s worse condition
Shubman Gill scores a lot of runs in Test and ODI but he is not able to do anything amazing in T20 International. This player is being given preference over players like Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. By keeping these two players out of the playing eleven, Gill is being given a chance to open but this player has proved to be a miserable failure. Gill has scored only 263 runs in the last 14 T20 innings at an average of 23.90. This year Gill does not have a single half-century in T20 International. In New Chandigarh, he was out on a golden duck for the first time in his career.
Team India is fielding with only 9 players
Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill are not performing much in the last 15-20 matches. Now it seems that Team India plays T20 matches with only 9 players. T20 World Cup is very close. In such a situation, this form of captain and vice-captain will really be a matter of concern for Team India management.
