New Delhi: After a historic win at the Oval against England, Team India boarded their flight back home on Tuesday, beginning their month-long break. The next assignment for the Men in Blue would be the Asia Cup 2025 which begins from September 9. India play their first match of the continental tournament against the UAE on September 10.
This comes after the team’s two-month stay in England where they played five Test matches, ending the series with a favourable 2-2 result. After losing the Test series against New Zealand and facing an embarrassing defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the series draw against the English side comes up as a big boost for the India team.
India steps away from series win
Though the 2-2 result in the series proved good enough for the Indian team, the Gill-led side remained inches away from winning the series 3-2. A mere 22-run difference at the Lord’s Test match cost them the game as the batters failed to chase 192-run score in the final innings. But the side bounced back in the final game with speedster Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishan proving as the game changers.
Meanwhile on August 5, photos of India players inside the flight went viral on social media as they were seen happily posing for cameras. All-rounders Shardul Thakur, Arshdeep Singh were seen in the photo with some other members of the Indian cricket team. For the side, skipper Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were among the batters who played exceptionally well while Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh showed with the ball.
