Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is one of India’s largest IT service companies. As per latest job market updates, the firm is hiring freshers under three major categories – Ninja, Digital and Prime.
What are these roles?
These roles are highly competitive and often offered to freshers in the industry. With compensation rates remaining stagnant for over a decade, the monetary remuneration staggered netizens.
TCS Ninja
The Ninja roles are a simple rebranding of a fresher role. However, TCS conducts a National Qualifier Test to hire profiles under TCS Ninja. This exam is open to graduates from B.E., B.Tech, M.E., M.Tech, MCA, and M.Sc backgrounds. As per the latest news, the compensation offered is Rs 3.6 lakhs per annum. Employees are working the role of Assistant Systems Engineer at the Ninja level. Although it offers a lower salary compared to the other two categories, it serves as a gateway into one of India’s top IT firms and provides ample learning and upskilling opportunities within the organization.
TCS Digital
This is the most hyped position amid the recruitment season for freshers. Aiming for the post of System Engineer, TCS offers a compensation of Rs 7 lakh per annum for this role. Having a deep knowledge of Machine Learning, IoT, Data Science and Blockchain is essential for this role with skills honed like Data Structures and Algorithms.
The selection process often includes a specialized Digital Test with advanced coding challenges, followed by interviews focused on core technical knowledge and problem-solving ability. Performance in TCS NQT or pre-placement interviews can sometimes lead to a Digital offer for high scorers.
TCS Prime
TCS Prime is the elite category, offered to candidates from premier institutes such as IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani, and IIITs. This role is rarely publicised and is extended to top talent through direct campus interviews or internal assessments.
TCS Prime roles come with an estimated compensation of Rs 9-11 lakh per annum, with a focus on product engineering, research and development, and emerging tech solutions. These roles demand high-end technical knowledge and exceptional problem-solving skills, and the recruitment process includes intense technical and HR rounds with panelists from senior management.
