Pop superstar Taylor Swift has announced a new edition of her album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’, which will feature four new songs.
Swift shared the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, posting the album cover along with a lengthy note reflecting on the journey of ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ over the past year.
The singer-songwriter recalled the album’s record-breaking debut and said she travelled to Sweden to celebrate the achievement with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. During the trip, the trio returned to the studio and began working on new material.
“Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs,” Swift wrote.
She said the four additional tracks were created out of gratitude for the overwhelming response to the album.
“I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made,” she added, announcing that ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ would be released on Friday and was available for pre-order and pre-save.
Swift has disabled comments on the Instagram post.
‘The Life of a Showgirl’ was released on October 3, 2025, and opened with 4.002 million album-equivalent units in the US, according to Luminate. The figure marked the biggest first-week total for an album in the modern tracking era.
The opening-week total included 3.4795 million pure album sales and 522,600 streaming-equivalent units, representing 680.9 million on-demand streams.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Swift her 15th chart-topping album. It also set a record with 1.334 million vinyl copies sold in its opening week.
