Ghaziabad news: In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the Municipal Corporation has decided to extend the 20 percent discount period in the property tax to 30 September 2025, giving relief to the taxpayers. This exemption will be given only to those taxpayers who will pay out the property tax outright. This facility will be implemented by issuing new bills.

Municipal decision

Municipal Corporation Chief Tax Assessment Officer Sanjeev Sinha said that this step has been taken on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik. New property tax bills will be sent to give taxpayers 20 percent exemption benefit. This decision was taken after the protests and dharna of the councilors, who demanded to extend the discount period.

Opposition and picketing of councilors

Recently, councilors demonstrated against the Municipal Corporation. In fact, the corporation had earlier promised 20 percent discount, but 10 percent discount bills were being released. The councilors expressed strong displeasure over this and demanded a ban on the bills. In addition, the councilors were angry even when the meeting proceedings were not available despite cancellation of the proposal to collect property tax on the basis of DM Circle Rate at the Municipal Corporation board meeting.
