Tata Safari or Mahindra Scorpio N: Which SUV Should You Choose?

Here we are going to do a comparison between two Indian carmakers, Tata and Mahindra, with their most popular cars, Safari and Scorpio-N. Both are strong, stylish, and built for rough roads, but they feel very different to drive. The Safari is more about comfort and family use, while the Scorpio N gives that tough, adventure-ready vibe.

Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio N are two SUVs that everyone in India talks about. Both cars are feature-loaded and have diesel top-end models. In their latest versions, both cars get better tech, improved interiors, and powerful engines. They’re made for people who want space, safety, and confidence on the road. Engine and Powertrain

The most important aspect of machines is their powertrain; here, we are comparing the top-end diesel model of both cars. Two of them are powered by a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. The Safari has a 1956 cc engine, which can produce 170 hp with 350 Nm of torque. However, the Scorpio-N is packed with 2184 cc, which is capable of 175 hp along with 400 Nm of torque. Both of them are paired with the (TCA) Torque Converter Auto gearbox with a six-gear option. Both SUVs come with front-wheel drive (FWD), which allows the driver to do off-roading and also helps in situations where the car has been stuck or on a hilly incline.

In terms of safety, both cars are certified with a 5-star rating from NCAP. The Safari comes with seven airbags, while the Scorpio-N features six airbags. Both SUVs have similar features like ABS, traction control, and much more. Two of them are also equipped with a parking camera and sensor; however, the Safari features a 360-degree view, while the Scorpio-N only provides a front-end view. 

Fuel & Performance

Safari has a 50-litre fuel tank capacity and comes with a mileage of 14.1 km/l (for the diesel variant). The Scorpio-N comes with a 57-litre fuel tank and features mileage of 15.94 km/l (for the diesel variant).

Price options

Mahindra Scorpio-N top model is available at a price of Rs 22,51,300 (for 7-seater). However, the Tata Safari came at Rs 25,86,290 (for 7-seater) while the top model for Safari is available at Rs 25,95,970, but it comes with six-seat option.
