This year, the Tata Group has invested a large Rs 1,000 crore in its electronics retail chain Croma (Croma). According to the company’s documents, Tata Digital has invested this in Tata’s company Infinity Retail Limited, which runs Croma. Now the total capital of Croma has increased to Rs 6,000 crore. According to an Economic Times report, the Tata Group is planning to invest a big investment in this business even further.
Loss increased, but also income
In the financial year 2024-25, Infinity Retail deficit increased to Rs 1,091 crore, which is more than 986 crore in the previous year. But at the same time, the company’s total earnings also increased by 6.7 percent to Rs 19,228 crore. The company said that this year was of change for him. Despite the market tough competition and slow demand, Croma not only increased sales but also improved the margins of profits by reducing the expenditure. Especially by cutting supply chains and marketing, the company has tried to improve its earnings.
Croma changed way to do their business
Infinity Retail has adopted the strategy of Get Fit & Get Fast, which means that the company has given its business model completely new. Now their focus is on doing faster and better work so that they can maintain their dominance in the market. Tata Digital is an important partner in this entire process. Together, the two are working to save new technology, customer base, running loyalty programs and saving in expenses.
According to the report, Croma is no longer in the race of lead, but is paying more attention to profits and sustainable business. The new capital received by Tata, strict expenses will be the real test for the coming time for the company with control and bigbasket.
Croma’s online sales declines
Croma has increased its number of stores across the country to 564. Last year, his store growth was 13 percent, which is better than the market. However, there was no significant increase in sales of the same store as the number of customers coming to the shop decreased. Online sales have fallen by 36 percent. The reason for this is a change in the company’s strategy, where it is now focusing on only profitable and sustainable sales. Along with this, Croma has started a sharp delivery of electronics by joining hands with Tata Group’s fast delivery service bigbasket, which is doing well in some cities.
