From the planned 5-model lineup, the first model to launch under the Avinya tag is expected to be the Avinya X. It will be similar to the model showcased at the Bharat Mobility Auto Show 2025. We have seen the design, which shouts ‘premium’, and the uncluttered cabin, which carries the premium essence, too. All these premium packages at a very ‘non-premium’ price will be astonishing to witness.

Features

We have already seen what the model will look like from the inside, and it has a very clear advantage over regular cars. Yes, we are talking about the minimalistic cabin layout; Tata has gone on ‘get what you need’ mode instead of ‘get everything’ setup. Three-screen layout replaced by a single screen in the middle, ambient lighting flowing through the dash, an instrument cluster (digital) displaying all the essentials, and a two-spoke steering. This is everything it showcased, but there’s a lot on the list –

  • Level 2+ ADAS
  • Automatic AC
  • Ventilated and powered seats
  • HUD
  • 360-degree camera
  • Massaging seats
  • Powered tailgate
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • 6-airbags

Powertrain

Earlier, the Tata Avinya models were said to be using the JLR’s EMA platform, while a recent update suggests Tata is planning to shift from using the EMA platform to JLR’s and Cherry’s Freelander platform. This will help with cost structuring and also address the main problem of Avinya ‘delays’. This ready platform will enable launch (whether earlier or not is still to be addressed).

The power figures and battery pack details are kind of blurry at the moment. However, Tata has claimed that this platform will deliver up to 500 km of range in less than 30 minutes of charging. But for such a figure, infrastructure improvements are also required.

Expected Pricing & Launch

The Avinya X will likely rival the BMW iX1, BYD Sealion 7 and other models. The new-generation model will likely make its debut by early 2027, and we expect it to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
