Tarapur Assembly Elections 2025: Will JDU’s fort be broken or will the drum of victory ring again?

Tarapur Assembly Elections 2025: The seat is held by JDU since 2010. From Neeta Chaudhary to Mewalal and now Rajiv Singh, JDU has registered continuous victories. But in 2025, will RJD be able to penetrate this stronghold or will JDU again maintain its dominance.

Tarapur Assembly Election 2025: Tarapur assembly seat has a special identity in the politics of Bihar. This seat falls in Munger district but is under Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. There has been a contest between JDU and RJD here for the last several decades. JDU has continued to dominate this seat since 2010. The special thing is that JDU’s Mewalal Chaudhary and Neeta Chaudhary strengthened the party’s hold here. At the same time, RJD has also given tough competition many times. The 2025 elections are once again making this seat interesting.

2010: Neeta Chaudhary opened the account of victory

In 2010, JDU candidate Neeta Chaudhary led the party to victory for the first time. He defeated veteran RJD leader Shakuni Chaudhary. Neeta Chaudhary got 44,582 votes while Shakuni Chaudhary got 30,704 votes. The victory margin was about 13,878 votes. This victory gave JDU a chance to establish its foothold on this seat.

2015: Mewalal Chaudhary’s explosive entry

In the 2015 elections, JDU made Mewalal Chaudhary its candidate. He defeated Hum Party candidate Shakuni Chaudhary. Mewalal Choudhary got 66,411 votes while Shakuni Choudhary got 54,464 votes. The victory margin was 11,947 votes. After this election, Mewalal Chaudhary gained a strong hold on this seat.

2020: Defeat Divya Prakash

In the 2020 assembly elections, JDU’s Mewalal Chaudhary defeated RJD’s Divya Prakash in a tough contest. Mevalal got 64,468 votes while Divya Prakash had to be content with 57,243 votes. The victory margin was 7,225 votes. This time LJP also took part in the contest and secured more than 11 thousand votes, which made the contest more interesting.

2021 by-election: Rajiv Kumar Singh wins

By-elections were held in 2021 after the death of Mewalal Chaudhary during the Corona period. JDU fielded Rajiv Kumar Singh and he won. Rajiv got 79,090 votes while RJD’s Arun Kumar Sah got 75,238 votes. The victory margin was only 3,852 votes. This result shows that the competition on this seat is very tough.

Ethnic and political equation

There are more than three lakh voters in Tarapur assembly. RJD relies on MY equation (Muslim-Yadav) and Vaishya voters, whereas JDU depends on Luv-Kush (Kushwaha and Koeri) equation here. This is the reason why every election here is exciting and the margin of victory and defeat remains less.

2025: Will JDU’s stronghold continue?

JDU and RJD will be face to face once again in 2025. BJP is also strengthening its strategy through alliance. Now it remains to be seen whether RJD is able to register victory this time or whether JDU will be successful in saving its stronghold.
