Tanzid Hasan, Mahedi Hasan stars as Bangladesh thrash Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in 3rd T20I, clinch series 2-1

New Delhi: Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the third T20I at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday to clinch the three-match series 2-1. Bangladesh rode on an impressive bowling performance from Mahedi Hasan and a terrific knock from opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim to secure a thumping victory in the game.

Tanzid slammed a brilliant knock of an unbeaten 73 to help Bangladesh make light work of the 133-run target in the third T20I in Colombo. Bangladesh got off to a stuttering start in the run chase, losing opener Parvez Hossain Emon on a Golden Duck on the first ball of their innings. However, Tanzid combined with skipper Litton Das to get their chase back on track.

The duo shared a 74-run stand for the second wicket, before Kamindu Mendis got rid of Litton on 32 off 26 balls. Tanzid then combined with Towhid Hridoy, who scored an unbeaten 27 off 25 balls, to share an unbeaten stand of 59 runs for the third wicket and take Bangladesh home. Tanzid top-scored with 73 off 47 balls, laced with six sixes and a solitary four.

It was a clinical run chase from Bangladesh as they secured their second win on the trot to take the series 2-1. Earlier, Bangladesh produced an impressive bowling performance to bundle out the hosts for a low-key total of 132 runs after being asked to bowl first in the series-decider.

Spinner Mahedi Hasan starred with the ball for Bangladesh as he ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up with a four-wicket haul. Hasan picked up the important wickets of opener Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera and Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka to finish with excellent figures of 4/11 off his 4 overs.
