Tantrik plays loud bhajans, disturbing board exam students in Haridwar; police arrest and charge with peace breach

Haridwar: Haridwar police have arrested a tantrik who was disturbing students preparing for board exams by playing bhajans at high volume late at night. The incident took place in Purushottam Bihar Apartments, Kankhal, where residents had been troubled for several days.

According to police, the accused, Satya Prakash Tiwari, claimed to practise tantrik vidya and often created a ruckus in the apartment. Despite repeated requests from neighbors to lower the volume, he continued to play bhajan kirtan on his television at night, making it difficult for children to study for their exams.

Residents complained to Police Station Kankhal

On February 23, 2026, residents complained to Police Station Kankhal after the tantrik started fighting with them when they tried to reason with him. A police team immediately reached the spot and attempted to calm him down. However, he refused to listen and instead resorted to abusive language.

Police arrested him under Section 170 BNSS

Seeing no other option, the police arrested him under Section 170 BNSS for disturbing the peace. Inspector Devendra Singh Rawat confirmed that the accused had been warned multiple times but ignored all instructions. His behavior was described as indecent and aggressive, causing distress among families in the apartment.
