KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Tanner Murray hit his first major league home run, and Colson Montgomery also contributed a home run as the Chicago White Sox triumphed over the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Sunday.
The game commenced three hours later than scheduled due to rain delays.
Dustin Harris initiated the seventh inning with a pinch-hit double and scored the decisive run for the White Sox on a wild pitch by John Schreiber (0-2), marking a significant moment in the tightly contested match.
Record-Setting Pitching Performance
The White Sox equaled a franchise record by utilizing nine pitchers throughout the nine-inning game, a feat previously achieved against Cleveland on September 14, 1997. The last four relievers for Chicago – Bryan Hudson, Jordan Leasure (1-0), Lucas Sims, and Seranthony Domínguez – collectively struck out six batters over 4 1/3 innings without allowing a hit. Domínguez secured his third save by retiring the side.
Game Highlights
Following the lengthy rain delay, Murray launched a two-run homer off starter Noah Cameron in the second inning, providing the White Sox with an early 2-0 advantage and ending a scoreless streak that had stretched to 21 2/3 innings. This marked only the second career hit for the 26-year-old Murray, who made his major league debut on April 5.
The Royals responded in the third inning, drawing four walks and scoring three runs to take the lead. Montgomery’s two-run homer in the fourth put the White Sox back in front at 4-3, but the Royals answered with a 5-4 lead by the end of the inning, thanks to RBI singles from Isaac Collins and Bobby Witt Jr.
Upcoming Matches

Meanwhile, the Royals will send left-hander Cole Ragans (0-3, 5.91 ERA) to the mound against left-hander Framber Valdez (1-1, 4.76) as they embark on a six-game road trip.
