Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara broke many records worldwide. The film, as well as its music, received an excellent response. The title track of the romantic drama continues to rule the music charts. Today, Saiyaara completed one year since its theatrical release. While the makers celebrated the milestone, music director Tanishk Bagchi raised a concern on social media. He composed the title song with Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami. Sharing his grievance with Yash Raj Films on Instagram, Bagchi revealed that he has not been paid Rs 8 lakhs in royalties.
Tanishk Bagchi calls out YRF for not clearing royalties
mentioned that, as per the royalty statement, he was supposed to get Rs 8 lakh from the production house. In the caption of his Instagram post, he wrote, “Whatever YRF had paid me all of that nominal amount was used to do the live and mixes. What was left was zero, yes. That’s what I earned from a song so big.”
He further added, “Honestly, for the amount of work, time and passion I put into this song, ₹8 lakhs feels like peanuts. I genuinely believed a song that reached this scale would have earned much more.”
Tanishk Bagchi’s statement
Tanishk clarified that he did not raise the issue on social media for sympathy. The music composer also highlighted the sacrifices he made to bring the song to life. “From now on, I’ll only work with producers and directors who value creativity, honesty and the people who build their music,” he shared.
