In a report issued on this matter, the Meteorological Centre noted the presence of a low-pressure trough extending from the interior districts of Tamil Nadu up to North Interior Karnataka at an altitude of 900 meters. Consequently, there is a likelihood of light rain occurring in one or two isolated places across the coastal districts of southern Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats districts on Thursday. Similarly, the Centre has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in isolated pockets of the southern coastal districts and Western Ghats districts on April 3 and 4.

Tamil Nadu weather outlook in April

Since February, the heat has been relentlessly scorching across Tamil Nadu. In various regions, including Vellore and Erode, temperatures have soared past the 100-degree mark. Against this backdrop, the Meteorological Centre has released a forecast regarding the weather outlook for April. Specifically, there is a possibility that Tamil Nadu will receive rainfall higher than the seasonal average. While this may offer some degree of relief from the heat, there remains a likelihood that heatwave conditions—characterized by temperatures higher than normal—will persist for an extended duration in certain parts of northern and coastal Tamil Nadu, as well as in select areas of interior Tamil Nadu.
