What is Causing the Unsettled Weather?

The current weather is attributed to convective activity and atmospheric upper-level circulation. Despite the onset of the Northeast Monsoon, its influence has been weak.

Meteorologists explain that the persistence of westerly winds, combined with the incomplete establishment of easterly winds, has created a lull in monsoon rainfall. This has led to an increase in daytime temperatures, which in turn fuels convective rains that typically break out in the evening and night.

Outlook: When Will the Monsoon Intensify?

The prevailing conditions, including above-normal temperatures and evening thundershowers, are expected to continue until November 12th. The Meteorological Department indicates that the normal Northeast Monsoon is likely to intensify only after the easterly winds gain strength, which is expected after the 12th.
