Chennai: In a shocking turn of events, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sundaresan of the Mayiladuthurai Prohibition Enforcement Wing has made grave allegations against his superiors, including District Superintendent of Police (SP) Stalin, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Davidson Ashirvatham, and Intelligence Wing IG Senthilvel. The officer claims his life is under threat and that he is being pressured to manipulate investigation reports in high-profile cases.
Vehicle Controversy Sparks Public Outcry
The controversy began when DSP Sundaresan alleged that SP Stalin had commandeered his official patrol vehicle for VIP security duty, leaving him with a damaged replacement. In protest, the DSP walked from his residence to the police station, with videos of his march going viral on social media.
While the Mayiladuthurai police denied the claims, stating the vehicle was temporarily reassigned for urgent duty and later returned, the incident brought simmering tensions to the boil. DSP Sundaresan then dropped a bombshell in a media interview, revealing deeper systemic issues.
“Being Honest is a Crime?” – DSP’s Explosive Claims
In a dramatic press interaction, DSP Sundaresan alleged that senior officials, including ADGP Ashirvatham and IG Senthilvel, pressured him to alter his investigation report in the murder case of retired Inspector Kasthuri in Kanchipuram. He also claimed he had not received his salary for four months, forcing him to apply for voluntary retirement.
“I am ready to commit suicide at the office gate if anyone proves I took a bribe,” he declared. “The SP has threatened me with obscene gestures, saying I will be crushed if I don’t comply.” The DSP further alleged that his family’s safety was at risk and that he was being deliberately harassed to deny him his pension.
A decorated officer, Sundaresan previously investigated high-profile cases, including the murder of retired Inspector Kasthuri and the encounter related to the killing of Bahujan Samaj Party state president Armstrong. Known for his crackdown on illegal liquor, he has arrested over 700 bootleggers and sealed 23 unauthorized TASMAC bars in Mayiladuthurai.
While SP Stalin has denied the allegations, the explosive claims have sent shockwaves through the Tamil Nadu police department. With the DSP’s future hanging in the balance, the case has raised serious questions about internal pressures, transparency, and the safety of honest officers within the force.
