Tamannaah Bhatia has reacted to the controversial statements of actor Annu Kapoor about her looks. The actress said that she likes to focus on her work rather than bother about such comments. The Vvaan actress spoke about the need for creative professionals to learn to filter out distractions and stay focused on their goals. Her response comes after criticism of Kapoor’s description of her appearance as ‘dudhiya badan’ in an interview last year, which was slammed as objectifying and sexist. Tamannaah also spoke on her choices in her career asserting her intention to approach acting with sincerity and purpose.

In an interview with NDTV, discussed how she wanted to be seen differently by audiences at this stage of her career, apart from her image and screen presence. There was also speculation as to whether her recent projects were an attempt to alter her public persona. To this, Tamannaah answered the question by saying, “I think that as a creative person, our most important task is to listen. And when we listen, what we keep and what we filter is very important to understand. And because you are also a woman, you can understand that if we start giving importance to such things, then perhaps we will be able to move forward in life.”
She further added, “So I don’t even see these things. I focus on my work. I focus on what I want to make. I focus on my acting career.”
Tamannaah also added that acting is a responsibility she takes up sincerely and not just as a profession. “And genuinely, according to me, I want to do my work like a service. And I do that. And maybe that’s why it reaches people, because somewhere it comes from the right place,” she added.

The controversy goes back to last year when Annu Kapoor appeared on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel. During the conversation, the host spoke about the song Aaj Ki Raat in which Tamannaah featured. “Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai,” Kapoor said while responding to the discussion, referring to her looks.
He suggested that her performance helped children sleep well and blessed her that her wishes be fulfilled. He then went on to elaborate on his comment, saying, “Behen, apne gaane se, apne shareer se, apne dudhiya chehre se humare bacchon ko sulaati hain… Bahut achi baat hai. Desh ke upar kripa hogi agar humare desh ke bacche achi aur swasth neend soyein. Agar aur bhi kuch ichcha hai toh bhagwan unko samarth kare ke unki ichcha puri hun (Our sister is making kids sleep with her song, with her milky face and body. If she is making our children sleep sweetly, it’s very good. It will be a great blessing for this country that our children get a good and healthy night’s sleep. If she has any other wishes, may God give her the capability to fulfil her wishes. That’s my blessing for her.”
