‘Take it back’: Woman earns widespread praise for not withdrawing Rs 10 cr credited in her account due to bank error

Mainpuri: A farmer’s wife in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district has earned praise for not withdrawing Rs 10 crore that was deposited mistakenly in her account by the bank. Instead, she refused to withdraw a single money till the matter is resolved by the bank.

The woman, identified as Rita, lives with her husband Parasbhan Baheliya in Devganj village of the state. During the recent Navratras, she visited the local bank to withdraw some money. She then could not withdraw the money as the bank was closed due to Maha Ashtami. After this, she went to the nearby ATM to withdraw the money.

Woman refused to withdraw the money

Rita was in for a shock after she discovered that Rs 9,99,49,588, was credited into her bank account. Unable to believe, she then went to another ATM to check the balance, which too showed the same amount. She also recorded a video online which soon went viral on social media.

Even after getting such a huge amount in her bank account, Rita refused to withdraw the money and even asked her family members not to do so till the matter is resolved. The step taken by her earned the woman praise from her neighbours and others for her honesty. The incident has become quite a talking point in the region. Many people took to social media to praise Rita at a time when her family had the opportunity to misuse the funds.
