While South Africa’s stormy batsmen De Kock, Rickleton and captain Markram did not perform in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the team’s all-rounder Marco Janson played an amazing innings on the same pitch. This right-handed batsman played an unbeaten inning of 55 runs in 30 balls in the semi-final against New Zealand. This player hit 5 sixes and 2 fours in his innings. On the basis of his innings, Yanson not only saved South Africa but this player also made a big world record in his name.
Marco Yanson’s wonder
Marco Janson batted stormily as soon as he came to the crease against New Zealand. This player scored a half-century in just 27 balls. Yanson completed his first T20 fifty in the T20 World Cup by hitting two sixes. Yanson has reached fifth position in terms of scoring the fastest half-century in the knock out of the T20 World Cup. But the special thing here is that he is the first medium pace all-rounder to score the fastest half-century. Yuvraj Singh holds the world record for scoring a half-century in the fewest 20 balls in a T20 knock-out match. He did this feat against Australia in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Michael Hussey scored fifty in 22 balls against Pakistan in 2010. Heinrich Klaasen scored a half-century against India in 23 balls. He played this innings in the 2024 T20 World Cup. England’s Jason Roy scored a fifty in 26 balls against New Zealand in the 2016 T20 World Cup. But Marco Yanson is the first pace bowling all-rounder to be included in this list.
