New Delhi: West Indies produced a flawless all-round performance to thrash Zimbabwe by 107 runs and begin their Super Eight campaign in style in the T20 World Cup 2026. West Indies rode on Shimron Hetmyer’s stunning knock of 85 runs off 34 balls and excellent spells from spinners Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein to bag their second-biggest victory in terms of runs in a T20 World Cup game.
The two-time champions proved a no-match for Zimbabwe in what was a ruthless display from them at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Hetmyer’s blistering knock, supported by Rovman Powell’s blitzkrieg, powered West Indies to a huge total of 255/6, the second-highest in T20 World Cup history. Zimbabwe stood no chance as West Indies bowlers skittled them out for a paltry 147 in the mammoth chase to wrap up a thumping victory.
