T20 World Cup 2026: America-Iran war affected T20 World Cup, ICC took this big decision

ICC T20 World Cup 2026: A war has started between Israel and America against Iran. There is an atmosphere of tension in many Gulf countries. The impact of missiles and bomb blasts is also being seen on air traffic, due to which people are stranded in airports in Iran and Israel as well as nearby countries. Now the impact of this war has also been seen on the T20 World Cup 2026, due to which the International Cricket Council has issued a press release.

ICC’s big decision amid US-Iran war

The International Cricket Council has started working on backup plans in travel arrangements due to increasing tension in the Middle East between the T20 World Cup 2026. The attacks on Iran by America have affected flight operations in Gulf countries, especially important transit hubs like Dubai. Due to this, many players, team officials, match referees, broadcast teams and event staff may face problems in returning home, as they use these hubs for international connections.

ICC has made it clear that this situation in the Middle East is not having any direct impact on the organization of the tournament. This tournament is being held jointly in India and Sri Lanka, which started from 7th February and the final will be played on 8th March. A total of 20 teams are participating in the tournament, and now only a few teams are left in the race for the semi-finals or finals. At the same time, all the knockout matches will also be held in India, because the teams of Sri Lanka and Pakistan are out of the tournament.

ICC took a big step

Giving priority to the safety of players and staff, the ICC has immediately activated its travel, logistics and security teams. These teams are working round the clock to ensure that everyone reaches home safely. Alternative routes are being explored in coordination with big airlines. ICC said in a press release, ‘The ICC Travel and Logistics team is actively working with international airlines to identify and secure alternative routing options, including connections through European, South Asian and South-East Asian hubs.’

The ICC further said, ‘ICC’s security advisors are in touch with the relevant authorities and will advise as the situation changes. A dedicated ICC Travel Help Desk has also been activated.
