AB de Villiers has described Jasprit Bumrah as the greatest player (GOAT) of T20. He chose Bumrah over Kohli or Gayle for his stability and performance under pressure. According to him, Bumrah is a match-winning bowler in any situation.
Bengaluru: Veteran South African batsman AB de Villiers has told who in his opinion is the greatest player of T20 cricket. Surprisingly, De Villiers did not take the name of his RCB teammate Virat Kohli or Chris Gayle, but chose a bowler as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) of T20. This player is Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
De Villiers said, “Bumrah is the most consistent player I have seen. This may sound a bit strange because I am taking Bumrah’s name.” Praising Bumrah, he said, “There is no match to Bumrah’s ability to bowl in any situation in a T20 match and take wickets under pressure. Be it a new ball or an old one, Bumrah is equally dangerous with both. If you have to give the ball to someone in the Super Over, then give it to Bumrah, he will win you the match.”
The story further states that when India retained the title in the T20 World Cup, Bumrah was the biggest wicket-taker of the tournament with 14 wickets.
