Swara Bhasker Recalls Feeling ‘Half-Naked’ During Tareefan: ‘I Couldn’t Step Out Without A Towel’

Actress Alia Bhatt treated the netizens with an inspiring glimpse of her workout session on social media.

The ‘Highway’ actress took to the Stories section of her Instagram handle and reshared a video dropped by her trainer where both of them were seen perfectly in sync as they performed the leg exercise.

In a new conversation, the actor shared how Veere Di Wedding, known for its high-fashion styling and glitzy aesthetic, became unexpectedly challenging — not for its performance demands, but for the pressure to maintain a ‘sexy’ on-screen image.

‘I Have Never Been More Stressed in My Career’

Swara revealed that stepping into a glamour-centric world pushed her far beyond her comfort zone.

She admitted, ‘The kind of actor I am, prepping for a role – body language, dialogue, lines, I can do that. But, the most difficult thing for me to do are glamorous roles. My character in Veere Di Wedding was so much focused on glamour – clothes, looks, and a lot of pressure to lose weight and look sexy, hot.”

The actor added that the scrutiny around looking perfect took a toll. ‘I feel like I have never been more stressed in my career than when I was doing that film. It was out of my depth… Ultimately, it came out very well and the shoot was fun. I kept my own authenticity too… but the process was very hard for me.’

The Tareefan Bodysuit Shoot: ‘I Asked for a Towel’

One of the toughest days, Swara recalled, was filming the popular song Tareefan. Having never worn a bodysuit before, the outfit left her uneasy.

She explained, ‘I wore a bodysuit. I had heard what it was for the first time. It is basically a one piece swimming costume with a deep neck, along with heels or boots.’

What truly overwhelmed her, she said, was stepping out for the shot. ‘I said that I am half-naked, how will I walk to the studio like this? I asked for a towel and wrapped it around me, so it was hard for me.’

Staying Authentic Despite the Glam Pressure

Despite the anxiety, Swara said she managed to keep her individuality intact on screen, which she believes helped her character resonate with viewers. She credited the styling team, including Rhea Kapoor, for supporting her through the demanding process.

Swara will next be seen in Mrs. Falani and Sheer Qorma, both slated for release in 2026.
