Suryakumar Yadav’s lean patch in T20Is continues with another failure in Asia Cup 2025

New Delhi: Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s lean patch in T20Is continued with another failure against Sri Lanka in the last game of Super 4 at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday, September 26. Suryakumar was dismissed for just 12 runs off 13 deliveries, apart from a boundary, he was struggling to score runs in every delivery against Sri Lankan bowlers.

Suryakumar came to the crease in the second over after Maheesh Theekshana dismissed Shubman Gill on four runs. Abhishek Sharma was dismantling the Sri Lankan bowlers in the power play, but the Indian skipper was never in a position to play big shots.

The right-hand batter played a match-winning innings against Pakistan, scoring an unbeaten 47 runs off 37 balls, but apart from that innings, Suryakumar only managed to score just 24 runs in four innings with a minimal strike-rate of 82.7.

The Indian skipper had a fantastic Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, scoring 717 runs at an average of 65.18 with a strike rate of 167.91. In 2025, the skipper has scored just 99 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 110 for India, and is yet to cross the 100-run mark.
