Suryakumar Yadav dedicates India’s win over Pakistan to Pahalgam attack victims, Indian armed forces

New Delhi: Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav dedicated his team’s victory against Pakistan to the Indian armed forces and the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in a lop-sided encounter at the Dubai International Stadium in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. India produced another impressive all-round performance to secure their second consecutive win in the tournament.

The build-up to the clash was tense amid calls for a boycott as millions across the nation expressed their angst over the Indian government and the BCCI allowing India to play Pakistan, months after the Pahagam terror attack. However, the match proceeded as scheduled and was conducted smoothly in Dubai.

After scoring the winning runs for India in their successful 128-run chase, captain Suryakumar made it a point not to shake hands with the Pakistani players. He then expressed his solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack while speaking during the post-match presentation. Suryakumar also dedicated the victory to India’s armed forces.

“Just wanted to say something. I think it’s the perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the victims of the families of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity,” said the Indian skipper.

“We want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we will give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile,” he added.
