Suryakumar Yadav begins practice at NCA nets ahead of Asia Cup 2025

New Delhi: India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has started practicing at the NCA nets ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. The T20 specialist who underwent a sports hernia surgery abroad and was in rehabilitation mode since last three months would finally be seen in action again.

It was earlier learnt that the right-handed flamboyant batter would take some more time to recover and would not be fit for the Asia Cup in the last week, photos and videos of Suryakumar circulated on social media showing the player engaging in exercises. On Friday, it is for the first time that the fierce batter has picked up the bat for the first time in three months.

In the video that Suryakumar shared on his social media handle Instagram, he was seen sweating it out at the NCA in Bengaluru where he has for rehabilitation from quite few months. After an intense training in the gym, the flamboyant batter was also seen practicing with the bat as he seems to be geared up for the forthcoming Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup 2025 will begin from September 9 in the UAE and Indian play against the hosts as day later on September 10. While the Men in Blue have a separate team for the shortest yet it is believed that some of stars from the Test series in England would be a part of the continental trophy. With more than a month remaining for the vent to begin, preparations of Indian team seem to be in full swing, with they playing arch-rivals Pakistan at least two times in the Cup.

The squad for the Asia Cup is expected to be picked by the BCCI in the second or third week of August and it would be interesting to see that who all does the Indian cricket board decided to pick, keeping in mind the West Indies home Test series later followed by a white-ball tour of Australia.
