Suriya’s Scene trailer crosses 14 million views, marks Nazriya’s Tamil comeback

New Delhi: Suriya’s upcoming film Scene has crossed 14 million YouTube views after Sony Music South uploaded its  on Sunday. The film marks Naslen K Gafoor’s Tamil cinema debut and Nazriya Nazim’s return to Tamil cinema after nearly a decade.

The three-minute trailer of the crime comedy, directed by Jithu Madhavan, opens with Suriya’s character relaxing on a sofa after resigning from the police force. He asks Alexa to “play whatever you want”. While the entire police force is curious about why he has suddenly quit, he is seen dancing and cooking an omelette.

When a senior police officer asks him why he is leaving the force at the peak of his career, Suriya’s character says he wants to enter politics, seemingly drawing a real-life parallel with Chief Minister Vijay.

With Scene, director Jithu Madhavan is also making his Tamil cinema debut, as is Naslen, who has primarily worked in Malayalam cinema. Madhavan is known for directing Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham (2024).

The film’s female lead, Nazriya Nazim, plays Suriya’s house help, but her character appears to be more than that, with the trailer showing her performing martial arts and action sequences. She is returning to Tamil cinema after a gap of 12 years. Her last Tamil film was Thirumanam Enum Nikkah (2014).

Weekend release

At a Suriya shared that he had wanted to work with Nazriya for a long time and was happy that she had finally accepted the offer. He also revealed that this was not the filmmaker’s first attempt to cast her in a Tamil film, and expressed hope for more collaborations in the future.

“I have always wanted to work with Nazriya. We had asked her to act in three of my films earlier, but she rejected them. It was only on the fourth attempt that she agreed,” he said.

For Naslen, who is known for his performances in Premalu (2024) directed by Girish AD, and Mollywood Times (2026) directed by Abhayanak, Scene marks the first time in his nearly eight-year career that he will be playing a negative role.
