The election of Mokama assembly seat has become a high-voltage contest this time. JDU’s powerful face Anant Singh and former Munger MP and Surajbhan Singh’s wife Veena Devi are face to face as RJD candidates. On Wednesday night, Surajbhan Singh left Pashupati Paras’ LJP and met Lalu Yadav-Tejashwi Yadav and made it clear that Rashtriya Janata Dal will field his wife Veena Devi from Mokama. On Thursday morning, Veena Devi took the symbol from Lalu Prasad, after which the formalities of nomination started. Surajbhan himself took Veena Devi to Barh Court to fill her nomination form. Here, JDU’s strongman Anant Singh has filed his nomination on October 14. The 25-year old rivalry and political tug of war between the strong families on this seat is making this election the most interesting. For most of the voters of Mokama, this contest is not just about party but also about personal influence and dominance in the area. Tomorrow is the last day for nomination, hence politics is going to heat up further.
