Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor’s children are contesting their late father Sunjay Kapur’s will, claiming it favours third wife Priya Kapur and her son Azarius.
They have questioned the authenticity of the document. On Monday, they argued at the Delhi High Court that the will contained “glaring errors” and could not have been prepared by him.
Sunjay Kapoor Estate Case Latest Update
Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma’s children Samaira and Kiaan, told the court that the will, reportedly worth Rs 30,000 crore, had several “bloopers” that were “very uncharacteristic” of the late businessman. He claimed that it’s a “manufactured document” created and edited on another person’s device.
“Who prepared this will?” he questioned and alleged, “The file was created and altered on Sharma’s system on March 17, 2025 – the very day Sunjay was in Goa with his son Kiaan. It defies logic that he would rewrite his will on holiday while disinheriting his own children.”
He added, “There was a WhatsApp group with Sunjay and Priya Kapur, and Dinesh Agarwal, where the Will was sent as a PDF file, and its name was again changed twice. Two Wills were being simultaneously prepared of husband and wife. These were not mutual Will, so they have to be explained… they had also spoken about signed wills, and the message was acknowledged by Priya. Not Sunjay.”
The lawyer called it “an ominously uncertified document.” He also highlighted inconsistencies, including incorrect addresses for Samaira and Kiaan, and five different spellings of the youngest son Azarias’ name. He added that a Harvard-educated industrialist could not have drafted a will that, in his view, appeared “casual.” The lawyer further spoke about the love Sunjay had for his two children, who seemed to have been disinherited.
For those unversed, Karisma’s children are challenging the will of their late father, arguing that it leaves them with only 26% of the family trust, while Priya and her son control nearly three-quarters of the estate. Their lawyer alleged that the will was rushed to give Priya an advantage, calling it a carefully planned move to sideline the children.
Priya’s counsel has denied all allegations, insisting the will was properly executed and supported by evidence. The Delhi High Court has asked her to re-file a verified list of assets. The next hearing is scheduled for October 14.
