Suneeta Rao Recalls ‘In the Night, No Control’, Says Song Was Wrongly Credited to Another Singer

Singer Suneeta Rao has recalled her 1990s Bollywood hit “In the Night, No Control” from the 1996 film Khiladiyon Ke Khiladi, revealing that the song was incorrectly credited to another singer for several years before her name was eventually restored.

Rao, known for songs such as “Paree Hoon Main” and “Talaash”, shared the music video featuring Rekha and Akshay Kumar on Instagram. The song was composed by Anu Malik and the film was directed by Umesh Mehra.

Describing the track as an important part of her Bollywood playback career, Rao said it had been among her hits in the 1990s but was wrongly attributed to another singer.

She recalled the song’s popularity, highlighting Rekha and Akshay Kumar’s screen presence and chemistry. The track was released by Tips and became a popular number at the time.

Rao also credited Sherley Singh and her MRM Music Rights company for helping correct the error.

“Thanks to the determined efforts by @singhsherley the wonderful Sherley Singh and her MRM music rights company, the error was corrected and now the credit line even spells my name right!! Kudos and thanks!” she wrote.

She also encouraged fans to revisit the song on YouTube, describing it as “quite a riot”.

Khiladiyon Ke Khiladi also featured Raveena Tandon and former WWF wrestlers Brian Adams, who played Crush, and Brian Lee, who portrayed The Undertaker. The film was the fourth instalment in the Khiladi series and emerged as the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film of 1996.

The film follows Akshay Kumar’s character as he searches for his missing brother and becomes involved with a gang led by gangster Maya. To gain her confidence, he must prove his physical prowess by taking on a rival in a wrestling match.
