Hockey India has announced an 18-member junior men’s team for the Sultan of Johor Cup to be held in Malaysia. Defender Rohit has been made the captain of the team. India’s first match will be against Great Britain on 11 October.
New Delhi: Hockey India announced an 18-member Junior Men’s Hockey Team for the Sultan of Johor Cup to be held in Malaysia on Monday. According to Hockey India website, defender Rohit has been made the captain. Goalkeeper Bikramjit Singh and Princedeep Singh in the squad; Defender Rohit, Talm Priobarta, Anmol Ekka, Aamir Ali, Sunil PB, and Ravneet Singh; Midfielder Ankit Pal, Thaunaozam Ingalemba Luvang, Adhit Ekka, Arijit Singh Hundal, Rosan Kujur, and Manmeet Singh; And forward Arshdeep Singh, Saurabh Anand Kushwaha, Ajit Yadav, and Gurjot Singh.
The coach of the Indian Junior men’s hockey team, PR Sreejesh said, “Team is preparing good for the Sultan of Johor Cup. We have a good team, and the Junior World Cup is also coming, so this tournament will be a good platform and rehabilitation for the players to test themselves and gain precious international experiences against strong opponents.
India won a bronze medal in the previous edition of the tournament and would like to improve that performance this year. He will start his campaign against Great Britain on 11 October, followed by New Zealand on 12 October. He will then face Pakistan on October 14, Australia on 15 October and will end his round-robin stage against hosts Malaysia on 17 October. The top two teams in the points table will reach the finals, which is scheduled to be on 18 October.
