Suhail Nayyar on Life-Work Balance: ‘Udta Teer’ Actor Prefers Practicality Over Being a Workaholic

Mumbai, Nov 1: Actor Suhail Nayyar, currently gaining praise for his role in the film ‘Udta Teer’, shared his practical philosophy on life and work.

Nayyar, who was promoting his projects in Mumbai’s Andheri West, emphasized the importance of balancing different aspects of life rather than succumbing to workaholism.

Addressing the common notion that artists must ‘walk wounded’ and work through personal struggles, Nayyar offered a different perspective. “Let’s look at it like this. You give importance to other things in life. Happiness is important,” he stated, suggesting that personal well-being should not be sacrificed for professional demands.

He drew an analogy to bodybuilding, saying, “People say that in bodybuilding, it’s 80% diet 20% workout. No, I feel, it’s 100% diet and 100% workout. You have to balance everything. To each their own. You understand what’s working for you.” He stressed the need for continuous self-reinvention.

Nayyar also touched upon his approach to detachment in his profession. He views his work objectively, acknowledging that as an actor, much is beyond his control once a performance is delivered. “You can’t be attached to the result. You can be attached to the character. But attachment to the result is not a healthy thing,” he explained, advocating for a balanced emotional response to both success and setbacks. This grounded approach helps him navigate the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry.
