This initiative was started by the government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, whose aim is to strengthen rural women economically by connecting them with banking services.

Salma recognized this opportunity. On September 14, 2021, he applied to join the self-help group. Took six days of training, passed the exam and got selected as BC Sakhi.

He received a support fund of Rs 75,000 to start the work. After this, after taking training from RSETI, he opened BC Sakhi Center in his village itself.

Today Salma is earning commission of around Rs 35,000 every month. The house which was once short of money, now has stable income and confidence about the future.

Banking facility in the village itself, relief from long queues

Now the people of the village come to Salma’s center to deposit and withdraw money. Earlier to go to the bank one had to go to the city and stand in line for hours. Now easy banking facilities are available in the village itself.

From family responsibility to village inspiration

Today Salma is not only helping her family, but has also become an example for the entire village. Women are taking inspiration from them and showing interest in joining self-help groups. Her story shows that if given the right planning and guidance, village daughters can also become leaders of economic change.

Confluence of policy, hard work and courage

Salma’s success shows that government schemes are making an impact on the ground. Women empowerment is no longer limited to just slogans, but its picture is changing in every village. Salma is proud of her hard work and achievements, not her struggle. Her identity is no longer that of an unemployed girl, but that of a self-reliant bank friend.

This story proves that when policy, opportunity and courage come together, a village daughter can also write a new story of development.
